The land of Haeth was torn apart by war when the Slobbering God gathered her armies to invade. Only a nameless hero, wielding the Heavenblade, could stop the coming doom, sacrificing themselves in the process… or at least, that is how the story goes.
Now, with the war not so far in the past, peace has returned to Haeth. Mrs. Bat cares for the moths that dutifully deliver letters and packages to the kith. Mr. and Mx. Rabbit tend the garden, while Ms. Hound runs off with Mr. Stag’s blueberry pie, which the old man left to cool on the windowsill. But all this quiet cannot cover the scars torn into the land, from the graveyards that border the paths through the ancient woods to the hearts of its people, like Mrs. Lizard, who still expects her wife to come home every day.
You, however, left home a long time ago. Whether it was duty, a desire to leave the past behind, or simply another chance to get into mischief, the road has become your home, and your fellow travelers your new family. What waits beyond the next bend? A new adventure, an old sorrow to reflect on, or perhaps even a place to call home once more? There is only one way to find out…
What is Wanderhome?Wanderhome is a narrative role-playing game by queer author Jay Dragon. Players step into the roles of anthropomorphic animals traveling through the pastoral land of Haeth. Together, they explore the land and its people, confront its dark past, and search for beauty and hope.
The game itself is very light on rules and focuses mainly on the relationships between the player characters and their environment. Its tone is introspective, often melancholic, but ultimately hopeful. It is a game about wandering, healing, found family, and finding meaning in the small moments along the way.
